How ViewAnyFile.app Identifies and Parses 355+ File Formats Locally
Unlike cloud-based file viewers that upload your documents to remote servers for conversion, ViewAnyFile.app executes format parsers directly inside your browser's V8 JavaScript and WebAssembly sandbox. When you drop a file into the viewer, the engine performs a three-stage inspection before mounting the appropriate renderer:
1. Magic-Byte Signature Verification
File extensions can be missing or renamed. Our inspector slices the first 64 bytes of the File blob via FileReaderSync / Blob.slice() to match canonical hex signatures—such as 25 50 44 46 (%PDF), 50 4B 03 04 (PKZIP/OOXML), D0 CF 11 E0 (OLE2 Compound Document), or 41 43 31 30 (AutoCAD DWG).
2. On-Demand WebAssembly Instantiation
Heavyweight C/C++ libraries—including OpenCascade (OCCT) for STEP/IGES solids, web-ifc for BIM models, SQL.js for SQLite databases, and libarchive for RAR/7Z archives—are dynamically imported only when a matching format is opened, keeping initial page load under 100 KB.
3. Zero-Mount Ephemeral Memory
Parsed geometry buffers, pixel arrays, and document trees reside strictly in volatile browser tab memory (ArrayBuffer and WebGL textures). Closing the tab immediately revokes all object URLs and releases memory—ensuring strict compliance for confidential CAD, legal, and DICOM medical files.
