INP is the proprietary binary desktop publishing format created by Concept Software (Pvt) Ltd for InPage—the de facto industry standard across Pakistan, India, and the Urdu/Arabic publishing diaspora for newspapers, books, court filings, and official government correspondence. Because early versions of InPage (InPage 2000 / v2.x) predated widespread Unicode adoption, `.inp` files store Urdu text using a proprietary non-Unicode glyph-ligature encoding inside a Microsoft Compound File Binary (OLE2) container that neither Microsoft Word nor standard text editors can read.
